GOLDCAR Car Rental at Tenerife Reina Sofia Airport

Tenerife South Airport is the perfect arrival point from where to access all the attractions on the island, and there are a number of car hire companies available for passengers who do not wish to use the public transport services. Goldcar is a local car hire company present at the airport, and many passengers choose Goldcar for their reasonable rental rates, and excellent reputation in the car hire industry.

Goldcar is not located within the terminal building of Tenerife South Airport, but at a slightly further location from the airport. However, passengers will be provided with efficient transport to the offices of Goldcar, and will therefore have no trouble with the collection of their rented car. Upon arrival at the airport, passengers should collect their baggage and proceed to the S2 floor of the public car park, to where Goldcar's meeting point is located. A Goldcar representative will meet the customer, and show him/her the way to the courtesy shuttle bus provided by the company. Customers will then travel to Goldcar's rental offices to collect their vehicle.

Once the rental period has expired, the renter of the vehicle will need to return to the rental offices, and will once again be taken back to the airport by shuttle bus. This is assuming that you have not arranged a one way hire from Goldcar, whereby the vehicle will be returned to another Goldcar rental location. From Tenerife Airport, one way hires may be convenient for customers who do not plan to drive back to the airport, and will not cost anything extra if the rental period is seven days or more. However, shorter rentals will incur additional costs. Vehicles that are taken off the island of Tenerife will require additional insurance.

Passengers with a lower limb disability may request the use of hand controls from Goldcar, provided that they offer this additional service for their customers. Hand controls operate the accelerator and brake pedals of the vehicle, but not the car's blinkers, lights, windshield wipers or any other functions, such as cruise control. The device may come with a steering wheel knob for extra assistance for the driver. At Tenerife South Airport, hand controls should be reserved in advance, as they can only be used on certain types of automatic vehicles. While equipment such as baby seats or satellite navigation systems will cost an extra few Euro per day of rental, hand controls are usually provided free of charge.

Rentals from Goldcar include unlimited mileage and emergency roadside assistance, and all quotes include VAT and local taxes, collision damage waiver insurance without excess, personal liability insurance and theft cover. Additional drivers may be registered on the rental contract, for a small extra fee, but should also meet the same requirements as set for the primary renter. Drivers of Goldcar's vehicles will need to be at least 21 years of age, and have held their national drivers license for a minimum period of one year prior to the rental date. Goldcar will accept most licenses issued in the European Union, but foreign renters will require an International Driving Permit, if not by Goldcar, but by Spanish Law. Similar to the majority of other car hire companies in Spain, younger renters between the ages of 21 and 25 will pay a higher rental rate, as young drivers insurance will be added to their rental. Younger drivers may also not be permitted to hire from certain vehicle categories. Goldcar, at Tenerife South Airport, accepts the major credit cards of Visa and MasterCard, and debit cards, but they do not accept American Express, Diners Club or cash. When paying by debit card, an additional type of insurance must be taken, known as Relax insurance.

Goldcar renews their fleet of vehicles on a continuous basis, and is therefore able to provide their customers with reliable vehicles in very good all-round condition. The largest vehicles available may be similar to the Mercedes Vito, Volkswagen Transporter and Fiat Scudo, which seat up to nine people, as well as the Volkswagen Touran, Ford S-Max and Peugeot 5008, with space for up to seven passengers. Larger vehicles are generally more expensive to hire than smaller cars, but are ideal for groups of travelers who want to explore Tenerife together. Customers should keep in mind that Goldcar's vehicles are hired by category, and not by their make and models, therefore a specific vehicle model cannot be guaranteed. However, Goldcar will try to accommodate the customer should a special car type be requested.

Smaller and more practical vehicles from Goldcar include the Ford Fiesta, Mazda 2, Opel Corsa, Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fusion. These vehicles generally seat four or five passengers and are very easy to drive. They do however have a manual transmission, therefore are not suitable for someone who cannot operate a stick-shift vehicle. An automatic vehicle similar to the Ford Focus Auto, Mercedes Class A Auto, Ford Focus Familiar Auto and Citroen C4 Picasso Auto would then be a wiser choice.
